The terrifying face of Sahar Tabar has recently taken over the internet. The Iranian teenager supposedly had 50 cosmetic procedures in an attempt to look like her idol Angelina Jolie, and, for the past week, she’s been more talked about than Jolie herself.

The 19-year-old ignited a furious global debate online after images of her shocking ‘cosmetically enhanced’ face surfaced into the mainstream consciousness. Was it real? Was she faking it? And who was the surgeon responsible for her monstrous transformation?

For many, it was clear that the Iranian teen was hiding behind a mask of make-up and Photoshop. But, for others, the extreme transformation appeared genuine. Meanwhile, Tabar remained silent.

Her only acknowledgment of her overnight fame came in the form of an Instagram post where she claimed those criticising her look were jealous.

“I must say I [did not have 50] surgeries, and foreign sites and channels were very biased in the way they talked about my photos,” she wrote. “I thought these people are probably living in the 18th century and they haven’t seen or heard of technology or makeup and they are really surprised.”

Shortly after writing the scathing post she made her account private, leaving it only accessible to the 400,000 people that follow her.

However, this statement wasn’t enough to crush the cruel comments that she was receiving every minute of the day after her story went viral. So the teen knew she needed to take more drastic action to end the public fascination with her…

Speaking to Russian news outlet Sputnik, the Iranian schoolgirl finally revealed what many people knew to be true: her shocking Tim Burton-esque appearance was all fake – she’d doctored the images herself out of boredom.

What’s more is that she’s provided a number of additional photographs to show what she actually looks like!

“Now I can see that I have something in common with [Angelina Jolie],” the teen said, acknowledging that naturally, she does bare more than a passing resemblance to the Hollywood star. “But I amuse myself, and to look like someone is not my goal.”

“This is Photoshop and makeup. Every time I publish a photo, I paint my face in an increasingly funny way,” she revealed. “It is a way of expressing yourself, a kind of art. My fans know that this is not my real face.”

However, the teen does admit to having had some surgeries, although nothing as dramatic as her Instagram timeline suggests. “I had a nose, enlarged mouth and liposuction. I see nothing wrong with the operations: many people in the world undergo this kind of treatment.”

Tabar also dispelled the rumor that she’d lost an extreme amount of weight in order to imitate her idol. It was alleged that her weight had dangerously plummeted to 40kg to help her achieve Jolie’s skeletal figure.

“I lost weight, that’s true,” Tabar agreed. “[But] I did not drop 40 or 30 kilograms, but about five or seven. Now my weight is 54 kilograms.”

When asked how her family had reacted to her surgeries, and her viral fame, Tabar said, “For them, plastic surgery is not the norm. But now that everything has already happened, my parents support me completely. And this is the most important thing.”

“For me, the most important thing in life is the approval of my family and God. This approval is, that’s enough for me. The opinion of other people does not bother me at all.”
