22 May Woman Who Found Baby Buried Alive Is Reunited With Him 20 Years Later

Twenty years ago, Azita Milanian was out for a run with her dogs on a deserted hiking trail when she discovered something she wasn’t expecting. One of her dogs ran off and when Azita went to see what he was sniffing at, she broke down in tears.

A small baby – no more than three hours old – had been wrapped in a towel and buried alive. His umbilical cord was still attached. The baby was taken to the hospital and considered a miracle to have survived.

Azita believes it was fate as she decided on a whim to go down that particular hiking path that day, one she had never been down before. Now, the pair has been reunited after 20 years on a radio show with Ryan Seacrest, and yes, it was very emotional.

The boy grew up to be Matthew Cristian Witaker and was reunited with his savior two decades to the day after his rescue, which, of course, was also his birthday. Matthew and Azita hugged and Azita retold her story of discovering Matthew.

“I was waiting for you 20 years. You’re exactly what I’ve imagined. I guessed your size, everything. Thank you for coming into my life, you changed my life,” she said through tears.
