Domestic abuse is unfortunately a very widespread problem and has been since the very beginning of humankind. In fact, it is very likely that you know someone who has been a victim of some form of domestic abuse, even if you aren’t yet aware of it. And although the effects of physical abuse are much easier to detect, psychological abuse can be just as painful and damaging – if not more.

Often when people find themselves in a situation where their emotional well-being is being sabotaged by their partner, they convince themselves that the abuse is a rare occurrence or that it is somehow entirely their fault which of course it isn’t.

That is why finding their way out of such a frightening situation can feel impossible. In many cases, the abuse will go on for far too long before the victim speaks out, and sadly in too many cases, not speaking out soon enough leads to fatal consequences.

However, those who do manage to escape are usually too traumatized or even too ashamed to share their heartbreaking stories with anyone.

However, Imgur user Krissy Kross, a victim of long-term psychological and physical abuse very recently shared her own story on the image sharing site.

She uploaded screenshots of text messages that her ex-husband, Adam, had sent her and her fellow Imgur users were absolutely alarmed at what they saw.

The first screenshot reveals a series of texts that her husband Adam had sent her. He is intent on knowing where exactly she is and refuses to stop texting her until she answers.

What he should have known, however, was that she was unable to reply to his persistent messages because she was at work where she is not permitted to use her phone.

Adam clearly isn’t someone who can be reasoned with. He is paranoid and hugely controlling, but what exactly is he accusing her of? Well, from the next set of text messages it becomes evident that he believes she has been sleeping at someone else’s place.
