01 Aug Woman Labelled A ‘Skunk’ For Her Hair Defies All Her Haters By Becoming A Model
Rebecca Hackard spent the majority of her childhood feeling insecure about the way that she looked, and was regularly bullied by her schoolmates. Rebecca was born with piebaldism, a condition that means that she has a white streak in her hair as well as birthmarks across her body that look like patches of white skin.
Rebecca says that as a child she was regularly bullied for her looks, with people constantly telling her that she looked like a skunk due to the white streak in her hair. She says that she was so self-conscious of her appearance that she used to apply heavy makeup to her face in order cover the white birthmark, as well as wearing layered clothing to stop the white patches on her legs and abs from showing.
“I was always quite timid about showing my birthmarks from six-years-old to 20,” said Rebecca.
“I even asked to be taken to the doctors for them to cover my birthmarks but nothing could be done.
“I remember getting makeup to cover my forehead for the first time, I was using a brown lipstick as I wanted to hide it.”
