Woman Gives Birth To 24-Year-Old Baby Who Is Only 18 Months Younger Than She Is

Age gaps between babies and their mothers typically fall into a reasonable time frame. The majority of women have children between the ages of 20 and 35. However, for one new mom in Tennessee, the age gap between her and her daughter is a mere 18 months.

How was this possible? Well, it’s because the baby in question was frozen for a remarkable 24 years.

The youngest recorded mom in human history was Lina Medina who gave birth to a daughter in 1939 when she was just five years, seven months, and 21 days old. She was able to conceive because of the early onset of puberty but never revealed who the father of the child was.

Lina is pictured below shortly after giving birth through a cesarian section.

Unlike most couples, however, 26-year-old Tina Gibson and her 33-year-old husband, Benjamin, were unable to conceive naturally. This was because Benjamin suffers from Cystic Fibrosis – a genetic disorder which affects a person’s lungs and can cause infertility.

Desperate to become parents, the couple had been planning to adopt a child. They’d even fostered children. However, Tina’s father suggested an alternative option – embryo adoption. This involves the implantation of an already fertilized egg into a woman’s uterus.

I just came home one day, I looked at Benjamin, and I said, ‘I think we need to submit an application for embryo adoption‘,” Tina said in an interview with CNN. “On a whim, we filled out an application and submitted that night.”
