13 Dec Woman Explains Why Being Permanently Aroused Is Anything But Pleasurable
At some point or another, you’ve probably heard of Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder – it’s one of those rare medical conditions that are very easily sensationalized by the media.
News outlets will churn out comical headlines such as “Sex-Crazed Woman Climaxes Every 10 Seconds”, however, it is a very real and often devastating disorder.
On a basic level, PGAD is a condition which leaves sufferers in a constant state of arousal, however, there’s a lot more to it than that.
According to a report published in ‘The Journal of Sexual Medicine’, PGAD constitutes “persistent sensations of genital arousal in the absence of sexual stimulation or emotion, which are considered unwanted and cause the patient at least moderate distress.”
The key word here is “unwanted”, sufferers of PGAD do not want to experience these debilitating feelings of arousal. In fact, many have even gone as far as to say that they would rather live a life whereby they could never climax ever again if it meant not having to endure constant pain around their pelvis.
Forty-five-year-old Sarah from California knows all too well how cripplingly painful the disorder can be. And she like many other sufferers does not use sex as a means of relieving that pain.
“Having PGAD doesn’t mean that we want to have sex all the time,” she said.
And although it would appear from the name that the condition is characterized by constant pleasure, PGAD is far from pleasurable.
It is a disorder which predominantly affects women and is marked by constant pain around the pelvis. Those who suffer from the condition feel that they are always on the verge of an orgasm but fail to finish.
