Woman Crashes Her Car At 100mph Into Gas Station, Then Does Something Remarkable

Car accidents happen on a daily basis in every corner of the world. With the potential of traveling at very high speeds, coupled with human error, disastrous crashes are sort of an inevitability.

Yes, unfortunately, they’re incredibly common. Chances are, you know someone who has been in some form of car accident or collision. Whether the accident was simply colliding into a tree or, God forbid, hitting into a person or any other living creature, incidents like these occur far too often.

But rarely are they as extreme as the one featured in a video that has recently been making waves on the internet.

The content captured in the video is shocking, to say the least, and it all stemmed from one unfortunate yet totally avoidable slip-up. So what exactly happened?

Well, surveillance cameras at a gas station captured the truly terrifying moment a woman crashed her car – which she drove at over 100mph – only to emerge from the battered vehicle totally unscathed and seemingly unaffected by the crash.

The dramatic incident saw the white Pontiac at the center of the accident quite literally flying into a gas station in Flowood, Mississippi.

In the short but undeniably gripping video, the car is seen traveling on Old Fannin Road toward Lakeland Drive, swiftly lifting off from the road, then hitting into a brick sign, before colliding at full force into some gas pumps.

The woman driving the vehicle has now been identified as 24-year-old Shelby Lynne May, according to The Clarion-Ledger. Furthermore, News4Jax has claimed that she may have been under the influence when she lost control of the car.

Undersheriff Raymond Duke, from the Rankin County Sheriff’s department, said: “I’m being told from the deputy that worked the accident that she does work in the food industry, the food service industry, and she was coming from work and admits to having several beverages.”

Sometimes car accidents are unintentionally comical. Remember when a dog accidentally drove through a shop:

Investigators of the incident have stated that the allegedly drunk driver “overcorrected” while trying to avoid a crash which ended up being extremely counterproductive as that is exactly what made her crash in the first place.

She literally flew into the air with the car due to the immense speed it was traveling at.

“Actually a Rankin county constable, he was leaving a business near the service station,” Undersheriff Duke continued. “She had overcorrected gone into oncoming traffic, nearly had an accident there with another vehicle, crossed back over and went airborne.”

As if by miracle, the woman was able to leave the site of what could have been a very lethal accident and seemed to be totally unharmed.

The car was visibly wrecked but May, holding her head as she walked away from the car, appeared to have no external wounds.

A man in green, evidently concerned, then comes straight to her aid, walking beside her. According to some sources, she was then taken to hospital with minor injuries.

There’s absolutely no denying that May was extremely lucky to survive the ordeal.

Unfortunately for May, her luck would soon run out as she was arrested by the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with driving under the influence.

According to a report by MS News Now, May was wearing her work uniform inside out when the incident occurred which just goes to highlight the extent of her drunken state.

Undersheriff Duke said it was miraculous that there was no serious casualty, adding: “She had an angel riding with her, that’s for sure.”

Members of staff at the Xtra Mile gas station also told MS News Now that they couldn’t believe there weren’t any serious injuries considering how extreme the crash was.

May has now been released on bail after posting bond – it is expected she will make her first court appearance on July 10.

Let this serve as a lesson to you all: don’t drink and drive!
