As an individual with a laughably low pain threshold, I can only imagine, with clenched teeth, the agony of giving birth.

As a man, the chances of me having to undertake the act of childbirth are slim to none, though my vivid imagination, plus the plethora of frankly startling television programmes that document, in painstaking detail, a mother giving birth are enough to inform me.

A herculean effort, the monumental pain and effort involved in childbirth make the work of the mother a true, tangible miracle, and perhaps that is why the bond between mother and child is so unshakeable.

There are, of course, a myriad of different methods that some swear by to make the whole painful affair a little more bearable, from epidurals to water births. Or, you could do what one mother did, and go down an entirely different route.

As if giving birth wasn’t an uncomfortable enough experience already, Aimee Smith decided to make the whole experience a little more bizarre by donning a rather fetching Chewbacca mask for the duration of her childbirth.
