Viral Breakup Letter Leads To College Suspension For Cyber Bullying

Breakups tend to bring out the worst in both parties. Regardless of how amicable the split initially was, feelings inevitably get hurt and resentment can’t help but brew especially when people start to foray back into the dating scene. People do all sorts of crazy things as they attempt to figure out what exactly went wrong and achieve closure. Unfortunately, they often go about it the wrong way and engage in the classic rebound hookup or even obsessive stalking. But few quests to move on are as original as Nick Lutz’s.

The name may sound familiar as Lutz went viral back in February when he graded his ex-girlfriend’s misspelled apology letter. In the letter, Nick’s ex apologised for her behaviour and attempted to convince him that she had never cheated. He naturally tore apart the letter, and presented her with a D- grade. Ouch.

His final marks, in particular, were rather scathing:

Long intro, short conclusion, strong hypothesis but nothing to back it up. Details are important. If you want to be believed, back it up with proof. You claimed that cheating never occurred, but place blame on yourself, then for what? Need to stop contradicting your own story and pick a side. While this gesture is appreciated, I would prefer details over statements. Revision for half credit will be accepted.

Good luck.

Whilst the majority of us thought that this was a rather hilarious way to get back at an ex, it’s understandable that the girl in question didn’t feel the same way. In fact, she filed a cyber-bullying claim which had some rather serious ramifications for the college student…
