12 Jun Usain Bolt Wins His Final 100m Race In Jamaica
Usain Bolt is a household name. Widely regarded as one of the greatest sprinters in history, the Jamaican runner has had an incredible career spanning three Olympic Games – Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 – in which he won the 100m, 200m and 4x100m gold medals. This unprecedented ‘triple triple’ of nine gold medals has however been downgraded to eight. This was due to Bolt’s relay teammate Nesta Carter testing positive for a banned substance, thus causing Jamaica’s relay gold medal to be revoked. Controversy aside, Bolt’s landmark achievements remain his two world records in the 100m (9.58 seconds) and 200m (19.19 seconds).
With such amazing races behind him, Bolt will retire in August after the World Championships in London. The farewell tour of sorts has however begun as fans have witnessed the beginning of the end, following Bolt’s last ever official race on home soil.
