Transgender Man Who Suffered A Miscarriage Gives Birth To Healthy Baby Boy

Despite the considerable steps our society has taken towards acceptance and understanding of those in the transgender community, there is still an undeniable road yet to be travelled.

Transgenderism remains an under-discussed topic in modern culture, though Caitlyn Jenner has certainly placed the concept firmly into our conscious.

Because of this, it might be useful to explain what being transgender means in relatively simple terms. Being transgender is defined as someone whose sense of gender does not align with that with which they were born; instead, transgender people often identify as the opposite sex. Crucially, the term transgender refers to the concept of gender identity rather than sexual orientation.

Trystan Reese is a transgender man, married to his partner Biff Chaplow. The couple are already raising two children through adoption, and had hoped to bring their own child into the world together last year. Reese became pregnant, but, at the time, it was not to be. A tragic miscarriage six weeks into the pregnancy in 2016 would devastate the Portland couple.

Having been naturally cautious of attempting a second pregnancy, the couple subsequently announced that Reese had fallen pregnant again.
