I think it’s fair to say that Tinder has completely revolutionised and streamlined the online dating industry. That being said, I find all that swiping, reading and thinking of cheesy pickup lines kind of tiring, and sometimes, I can’t be bothered with Tinder at all. Wouldn’t it be nice if a computer algorithm did all the work for me? The technology apparently exists, but it might be a while before it works perfectly, as one Tinder user showed.

Melanie Ehrenkranz recruited a neural network created by researcher Janelle Shane that was designed to imitate human language, and generated a series of computer-generated flirty texts. The pickup lines were mostly gibberish, but that didn’t stop Melanie getting some pretty… interesting responses.
