This Is What The Cast Of ‘The Lost Boys’ Look Like Now, 30 Years After The Movie Was Released

The cult classic and seminal 80’s flick The Lost Boys is so much more than the horror-comedy that it’s frequently classed as. Despite not being a child of the eighties, I remember being incredibly taken by Joel Schumacher’s film in a London suburb in 2007 – nearly 20 years after its conception.

After my aunt planted a 13-year-old me in front of the television (most probably to get some respite), I recall being immediately gripped by the opening strings of Echo & The Bunnymen’s rendition of The Doors’ People Are Strange. The film began with the camera panning across the Californian sea-side town of Santa Clara, which despite being decorated in innocuous pastel hues, evidently had a strong alternative scene.

The camera promptly zoomed in on the pockets of punks that littered the sleepy town, dressed entirely in black and bedazzled by safety pins and mohawks, I felt as if I were worlds away from Noughties British suburbia.

Yes, the film featured the smouldering, curly-haired heartthrob, Jason Patric, but what really got me hooked on The Lost Boys was Schumacher’s conception of the vampire. A far cry from the Millennial twist on the undead, that is, withering, moany and anaemic, Schumacher’s vampires were veritable icons of 80’s punk rock. Theatrical and glamorous, they resembled fallen rock-stars. And this, I remember my 13-year-old self thinking, was what it meant to be cool.

It’s now 10 years on, and whilst I have lost the vampiric trappings of my “emo” phase, I still find myself returning to The Lost Boys from time to time. So let’s take a look at whether the cast still continue to “sleep all day” and “party all night”, 30 years after the film first hit the big screen.

1. Michael – Jason Patric

2. David – Kiefer Sutherland

3. Star – Jami Gertz

4. Edgar Frog – Corey Feldman

5. Alan Frog – Jamison Newlander
