With statistics showing that over 50% of Americans consume caffeine daily, it’s evident that a large bulk of the population is devoted to the miracle elixir that is coffee. Without it we’d probably still be banging the snooze button on our alarms until 8am and undoubtedly be slumped, head down on our work-desks come 12.

I’m one of the individuals that the humble coffee bean has snared in its trap because I really can’t go without. But I have no problem with it because a cup o’ joe in the morning helps make me, a better me. Instead of being insufferably grumpy in the morning, I smile instead of grimacing and hissing at anyone that comes my way and actually manage a cheery “good morning” to my colleagues as opposed to an incoherent mumble.

Consequently, you can always find me, at exactly 9.05am,  sleepily preparing my morning coffee. And despite friends and family members warning me that coffee isn’t all that good for numerous health reasons, I carry on anyway But I finally decided to conduct my own research on the effects that the mysterious brew has on the body, and it turns out that when consumed at the right dosage, coffee actually has several unique health benefits.

To reap maximum rewards, experts suggest that we should stick to one cup of coffee a day. Too much caffeine is associated with increasing anxiety, a faster heart-rate and even lowering libido – all things that we decidedly do not want. But don’t feel guilty about going for that early morning latte today as you could be enjoying the following effects…
