Securing your first paying job is a huge milestone in any child’s life, whether it be a paper round, walking someones dog or securing a job on arguably the biggest show in the world. Although, only one of these jobs will make you ridiculously rich.
The cast of Stranger Things have certainly set themselves up for life with regard to fame and fortune. Despite their teenage years, the young cast are some of the most recognizable actors in the business, with bank balances to prove it.
As season two of the smash hit series rolls into town, so does the cash for 13-year-old Millie Bobby Brown who plays Eleven, 14-year-old Finn Wolfhard (Mike), 15-year-old Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), 16-year-old Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) and 13-year-old Noah Schnapp (Will). No wonder they always look so happy!
Stranger Things aired in July 2016, but it wasn’t until a few months later that it really took off as a cult classic. Overnight, Millie Bobby Brown became a national treasure and #JusticeForBarb has been a global movement ever since.
However, it was a challenging process to get cast in the hit series with thousands of children auditioning for roles. Wolfhard (who plays Mike Wheeler) was cast when it became apparent that he was a 1980s “movie buff” already, making his transition into the world of Stranger Things seamless.
Meanwhile, Matarazzo was hired after the show’s creators watched his audition tape; they only needed to view it once to know they’d found an “authentic” Dustin.
At the time of their casting, the children could never have known the success that the show was to have. They certainly didn’t expect that for season two they would be receiving paycheques that could make A-list actors feel inadequate…
