This Hidden Clause In Wi-Fi Terms and Conditions Forces 22,000 Users To Clean Toilets

I think I speak for most people when I say I don’t read the terms and conditions. I might skim through one now and again, but when it comes to the agreements for minor things like shopping online or downloading a new version of iTunes, you can bet that I tick the box and move on without much thought.

For the most part this seems to be fine. When I have read the small print it has been fairly innocuous, and the times when I haven’t… well, it doesn’t look like my bank account has been drained nor my house re-possessed, so I’m not regretting the decision as of yet.

But still, every now and then there’s that nagging anxiety, one that comes down to the question: what did I just agree to? It’s mostly abated by the fact that we can look around and see everyone else doing exactly the same thing, so we conclude that it must be an okay thing to do. But there were some people who realised the power these agreements hold, after they didn’t look carefully at the terms and conditions for a free Wi-Fi service.
