This Fitness Blogger Is Using Images Of Snacks To Change The Way You Think About Calories

A British fitness blogger called Lucy Mountain has gone to great lengths to change people’s mindset about weight loss and calories. She has single-handedly created her own little project equipped with shocking visual aids in order to show people that healthy foods aren’t necessarily low in calories.

Lucy made side-by-side images of supposedly healthy foods and unhealthy foods in order to put to bed the incredibly false ideas we have about calories. Her message is simple; anyone thinking of improving their health by cutting out junk food needs be aware of how many calories are hidden in so called “healthy foods”. It’s only when people heavily indulge in these foods that they’re doing their health a disservice. In fact, these “healthy foods” can be a lot worse for you than you may realize…

“Many would choose the almonds for the nutritional value or the flavour – which is totally fine. Many would choose the almonds because even though they’d prefer Fruit Pastels, almonds would make them feel more ‘on track’ mentally – which again, is totally fine… When the majority of my diet has consisted of well-balanced food that’s full of micronutrients, I have no issue eating something that’s less so just because I love the taste of it. This is just a personal choice…  ‘Healthy’ to me is exactly what I make it. And Fruit Pastels (in moderation) make me happy which I believe contributes largely to my overall health.”

So, how many calories are hiding in your post-workout treats?

1. You’d think fruit pastels would contain far more calories, but nuts are very rich in fats..

2. Counting calories doesn’t mean you’ll be eating any healthier

3. These salads both contain avocado, cheese, croutons and salad dressing…

This next picture dispels the myths our society has created about “healthy versions” of unhealthy foods. Prepare to be shocked at the number of calories in the “healthy” version…
