These Two Gay Men Have A Girlfriend, And The Three Of Them Want To Adopt Children

When it comes to relationships, the traditional dichotomy of only men and women dating is now a thing of the past. Great strides have recently been made in terms of LGBTQ+ rights, and, as a result, relationships are becoming more diverse than ever before.

People of the same sex can legally get married in the United States, a federal hate crime law protects gay people from discrimination, and the controversial “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy was overturned allowing LGBTQ+ people to openly serve in the military.

Now a “thruple” consisting of two married gay men and their girlfriend has controversially announced they want to adopt children.

We as a society like to see ourselves as being open-minded and tolerant of all kinds of lifestyles, but there are certain types of relationships that we continue to scoff at, and polyamorous relationships tend to fall into this category.

We think that because they differ so greatly from our own lifestyles that they’re wrong. But no lifestyle is wrong providing that it isn’t hurting anybody and is shared between consenting adults. That’s why polyamory should be accepted.

While people have quite rightly come round to accepting those in same-sex relationships, it might be more difficult for hardened conservatives to wrap their heads around the decision of two married gay men to open up their relationship to a third party who happens to be female.

Despite being in a loving same-sex relationship, 38-year-old Chris and his 28-year-old husband Matt decided it could do with a brand new female addition after being together for six years, and they started dating a woman two years ago.

Admittedly, Matt wasn’t too keen on the idea at first but his husband eventually won him around, and they haven’t looked back since.

It wasn’t long before the couple began going on dates with a 28-year-old woman called Cait who they met through a dating app.

“Matthew had never had any experience with women before he’d met me,” Chris said, as he explained the thruple’s unusual relationship. “And before I met Matthew I had dated quite a few girls and quite a few guys.”

Now, if you think Cait is some sort of nymphomaniac who has tried every alternative lifestyle under the sun, well, you’re wrong.

Prior to getting into a relationship with Matt and Chris, Cait had never been in a polyamorous relationship before. In fact, Cait, who identifies bisexual, had been in a monogamous relationship for five years, but when she met the duo, they all agreed to try polyamory.

Needless to say, the initial dates were a huge success, and Cait was a hit with both Chris and Matt. “The three of us started to spend more and more time together and after about seven or eight months she was staying over five nights a week,” Chris revealed.

The experience has been a huge learning curve for the gay couple. Chris now embraces his bisexuality, and Matt, who is a proud gay man, has since realized that he is “homoflexible” – meaning that he is primarily attracted to men, but has some attraction to the opposite sex.

Cait has now been living with the couple for some time, and they have since begun to refer to themselves as a “thruple”. The New York-based trio’s relationship is now going so strong that they are now discussing the possibility of raising kids together.

However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing. In fact, the three of them are very open about the fact that jealousy was an issue at the beginning of their relationship. They did not, however, let this get in the way and eventually overcame these negative feelings.

Cait has confessed to “having a very strong connection with Chris” but “sometimes” feels “frustrated” that she has to share him with Matt.

“But with a lot of that came a lot of insecurity, because I didn’t know where my place was in the relationship,” Cait said.

You might wonder how sex works in this unusual relationship, and it’s reportedly just like the sex life of any other couple.

Well, not exactly, but keeping things steamy in the bedroom is definitely important to the three of them, and they try to make sure that no one is left out when they get down and dirty.

Watch the unconventional “thruple” discuss the dynamics of their relationship below and decide for yourself if polyamory sounds tempting:

Whether you agree with their lifestyle or not, it’s pretty bold of them to share it with the world in spite of the inevitable comments from haters. So kudos to each of them and may their relationship, unconventional though it may be, continue to blossom.
