I can’t even begin to imagine having a child. I am nowhere near ready. I don’t earn enough money for starters. However, the money I do earn disappears on trainers, beer and kebabs. That is what my life amounts to; trainers, beer and kebabs. Rinse and repeat 24/7, 365 days a year.

That said, I do think about what I would name my kid. For example, I wouldn’t name my son Aaron, because Aaron is the laziest name in the world. If you’re called Aaron, your parents probably opened the baby name book, looked at the first name and went “YEP. THERE WE GO. AARON. GOOD. STRONG NAME. THAT’S DONE.” I would like my kids to have quite old-fashioned names, but nothing too insane. Not Tarquin, but maybe, like, Felix? Not Margaret, something like Poppy or Camilla, you catch my drift? Or maybe I will just call my child Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116.

I am joking, of course. But, sadly, some Swedish parents did try and name their child Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116, only to be told that they were not allowed. Now the name Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 is banned in Sweden, as if they’re scared that someone would use it again! But whilst this name should be banned, some of the names banned around the world are truly bizarre.

1. Tom (Portugal)

 Tom, one of the most common names around, is banned in Portugal. However, you can call your child Tomas. Just not Tom.

2. Harriet (Iceland)

That is Harriet Cardew, a young girl who lives in Iceland. Her name is actually banned in the country, as it can’t be converted into Icelandic, so on her passport she is simply listed as “GIRL”.

3. Linda (Saudi Arabia)

Linda, along with a host of other names, is banned in Saudi Arabia due to its association with Western ideals.

4. Sarah (Morocco)

Bad luck Sarah Jessica Parker – if you were Moroccan you’d have been Sara Jessica Parker! But you’re not Moroccan, so it doesn’t really matter. However, the reason for this is Sarah is considered to be the Hebrew spelling, whilst Sara is seen as the Islamic spelling.

5. Elaine (Saudi Arabia)

Exactly the same reasons as Linda.
