22 Feb The World’s Tallest Man And Smallest Woman Met Up For This Amazing Photoshoot
It’s always a bit awkward being the short girl in the group. You have to walk a bit faster to keep up, and can never see over the crowd at concerts. I bet no one has felt that awkwardness more than 24-year-old Jyoti Amge from India.
She’s the world’s smallest women, coming in at just over 2 feet tall, and recently she met the world’s tallest man, 35-year-old Sultan Kosen from Turkey. The 8’1″ Kosen is like a skyscraper compared to Amge, who looks to be roughly the size of one of Kosen’s shoes!
The pair recently met up for a photoshoot in Egypt and the resulting pictures are amazing! The project was the idea of the Egyptian tourism promotion board, and it’s safe to say it is garnering quite a bit of attention.
Check out a video of this remarkable meeting below:

Amge’s height is due to a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. It is a genetic disorder that affects bone growth, causing short stature and disproportionately short limbs. She was declared the shortest woman in the world in 2001 at the age of 18. At that time, she weighed just 11 pounds!
Amge has to have all of her clothes, plates, and utensils custom-made to suit her tiny body. Likewise, Kosen requires many of his items to be custom-made, as well, but for the opposite reason.
His gigantic frame is due to pituitary gigantism. This is where the pituitary gland produces too much growth hormone, causing excessive body growth and height. Kosen was declared to be the world’s tallest man in 2001 by the Guinness Book of World Records.
He was the first person to be measured for inclusion in the book in over 20 years, and, at the time, he also received the record for the largest hands with the distance from wrist to tip of his middle finger coming in at an impressive 11.2 inches!
“I never imagined I would be in the book, I dreamed about it, but it was still a huge surprise,” Kosen said. Though perhaps he shouldn’t have been so surprised. According to Guinness, only ten people in the world have ever been recorded to have reached over 8 feet tall.
Previously, Kosen took part in the annual Guinness World Records Day celebrations in London, where he met up with the world’s smallest man, Bahadur Dangi of Nepal. The 74-year-old Dangi is just 21.5 inches tall and he weighs only 32 pounds.
Dangi works was a weaver and also helps to tend livestock in his Nepalese mountain village of Reemkholi.
“To be able to finally meet Chandra after all this time is amazing,” Kosen said of Dangi. “Even though he is short and I am tall, we have had similar struggles throughout our lives, and when I look into Chandra’s eyes, I can see he’s a good man.”
To see more of Kosen and Dangi’s interactions at Guinness World Records Day in London, check out the video below. It’ll be sure to have you rubbing your eyes in disbelief when the two strain just to meet each other to shake hands.
