04 Jul The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Theme Song Has a Secret Verse and People Are Losing Their Minds

The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air rap has to be one of the most iconic theme tunes in the world. We all know most of the words, and some people are able to recite the entire thing bar for bar.

We’ve all been there. It’s 1am and you’re in a bar or on the night bus home, you hear that infamous intro and although you try and stop your mouth from moving, it just comes out: “Now this is a story all about how/My life got flipped-turned upside down/And I’d like to take a minute/Just sit right there/I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air”.

Whilst the song is iconic, it is also incredibly annoying.

Me and my housemates have a list at home which features all of the songs we don’t think should be allowed to be played on a night out, and The Fresh Prince rap tops that list (just above Mr Brightside). But, there is no denying it was the sound of our childhood. It reminds me of that pre-dinner, post school time where you just had you feet up in front of the television, but it also sadly reminds me of many drunken nights at university where I just wanted to go back to my flat.

However, the song has once again reared its ugly, catchy head this week, as Comedy Central revealed there is actually a hidden verse to the song.
