19 Jun The First Look at the iPhone 8 Reveals Some Very Exciting Features
Another day, another chance for Apple fans to proclaim that the company is revolutionary. I don’t know what it is about Apple enthusiasts, but for some reason they refuse to accept that anything else comes close. I mean, I can’t lie, I am writing this on my MacBook with my iPhone by my side, but I couldn’t honestly give you a substantial answer as to why – other than that I am a sheep.
The initial major leak happened three weeks ago when three employees from Foxconn, a company in China which produces the devices, appeared to leak information regarding the design of the phone on Reddit.
The employees seemed to confirm a lot of the rumours regarding the home button being removed so that the display could be bigger. This would mean that touch ID would be placed under the screen, something which seems to have drawn poor results when tested: “We saw test units with fingerprint scanners mounted below the glass but performance and yield rates were not good. I’ve seen reports of a rear fingerprint scanner which I haven’t seen.”
They went on to reveal other bits of information, such as calling the phone “iPhone X”, the camera being vertical on the back, facial recognition and image scanning being used and they also updated us on the progress of the Apple glasses.
For those of you who don’t know, Apple are in the process of developing their own pair of specs which would change the way we view and interact with the world (essentially the same as Google’s failed glasses experiment). The product, which apparently has a 65 per cent chance of being completed, would seemingly be as monumental as the original iPhone.
