28 Jun The ‘Cars the Musical’ Twitter Account Has Sparked a Brilliant Conspiracy Theory about the Films
I’m sure that you’ve had the pleasure of watching Cars, the Pixar film featuring animated cars that are replete with their own weird and wonderful personalities. The film came out when I was a pre-pubescent teenager and I have to admit that I wiled away many an hour watching the anthropomorphic cars drive about and bicker with my younger siblings – who were definitely more representative of the film’s target audience. But it was Lightening McQueen’s inspiring friendship with Mater that was the true reason for mine, and so many others’ love of the film series.
As I am sure you know, their close bond has been the subject of numerous fan fictions and YouTube montages since the film first aired in 2006.
If you don’t quite recall the trajectory of this beautiful friendship, let me tell you how it all began… Lightning first met Mater when he was impounded by the sheriff for destroying the main road of Radiator Springs. Whilst McQueen wasn’t initially struck by Mater because he was a rusty vehicle, he soon realised that looks weren’t everything and overcame any lower-class prejudice in favour of Mater’s endearing personality. And the rest is history…
Or perhaps not, as one Twitter user caused quite the storm for making us re-evaluate the status of Lightening and Mater’s friendship by suggesting that they may have been more than just friends…
