21 Jun Survey Reveals The Top 12 Professions Where People Are Most Likely To Cheat
One of my worst nightmares is coming back from work to my marital home, only to discover another woman’s lacey underwear littered in the direction of my husband and I’s bedroom. Horrified, I press my ear against the door and hear the bed rocking. It’s the kind of situation that makes people lose faith in love, and what makes it so terrible is that it’s a reality for countless men and women around the world.
Communication is the key to a good relationship, and if you’re not content with your partner, you will literally be doing the human race a favor – and them – by either walking away or trying to talk through your issues. There really is no excuse for cheating.
Have you ever been cheated on? I can guarantee that your story isn’t as bad as the people in this video:[[jwplayerwidget||http://content.jwplatform.com/videos/DFH6AZfC-dkXnENEs.mp4||DFH6AZfC]]
To make matters even worse (yes, that’s possible), thanks to technology we are never more than a few clicks away from cheating – whether it’s downloading Tinder to “make friends” (the app equivalent of watching an adult movie to see if the plumber fixes the sexy MILF’s kitchen sink) or micro-cheating (love seeing another woman’s posts online and sending her other questionable material).
Now, a new study from Ashley Madison, the leading dating website that helps married people have affairs, has analyzed the cheating habits of men and women and made the startling revelation that people who have certain careers are more likely to cheat.
12. Men – Social work
If your man is a social worker, you only have to worry a little as just 2% of respondents fell into this category.
12. Women – Politics
The same goes for anyone who is dating a female politician. Only 1% of female respondents were politicians.
11. Men – Agriculture
Is your bae a farmer? In this survey, 3% of male respondents worked in agriculture.
11. Women – Arts and entertainment
Whereas 4% of female respondents worked in the arts and entertainment industry.
10. Men -Arts and entertainment
But if your man is a singer, there’s a slightly lower chance of him doing the dirty on you as this industry accounted for just 3% of male respondents.
10. Women – Legal
Did you fall head over heels for legally blonde? Or brunette? Then there’s a 4% chance of her cheating.
9. Men – Education
One of my biggest crushes as a teen was on my music teacher, but it’s probably a good thing that my love of musicians didn’t stay with me into adulthood as the survey revealed that men in education – professors, teachers, and lecturers – made up 4% of respondents.
9. Women – Trades
Having a woman in your life who’s good with her hands might be a dream come true, but they made up 4% of cheaters.
8. Men – Legal
But it’s not just female lawyers who have a wandering eye as 4% of male respondents also worked in the legal profession. So be careful where you bend and snap, that’s all I’m saying.
8. Women – Marketing and communications
If the leading lady in your life is good at getting her point across, then you might have something to worry about as those who worked in marketing and communications made up 4% of female cheaters.
7. Men – Medical
Male doctors might be able to literally fix hearts, but they also have a habit of breaking them too, and 5% of male cheaters worked in the medical profession.
7. Women – IT
Women in I.T. accounted for 8% of respondents. I wonder if that risk is worth having a tech-savvy girlfriend…
6. Men – Marketing and communications
Men who are good at getting their point across are even more likely to cheat than women in this profession, accounting for 6% of male cheaters.
6. Women – Retail and hospitality
You might want to watch your girl closely if she works in retail and/or hospitality as there’s a 9% chance that she’ll cheat on you.
5. Men – Finance
Hey big spender! Maybe don’t spend a little time on me as there’s an 8% chance you’re going to cheat.
5. Women – Social work
Social workers care about people, right? Maybe not. Women in this industry accounted for 9% of female cheaters.
4. Men – Retail and hospitality
That employee discount at Walmart might be tempting, but if your man works in retail (or hospitality) there’s an 8% chance he’ll cheat.
4. Women – Finance
Ladies who are good with money accounted for 9% of female respondents.
3. Men and Women – Entrepreneurs
This is the only industry where the number of cheaters was the same for both sexes, and the makers of the survey said it was the third most likely profession because entrepreneurs “are likely to take charge of their sex life the way they do their business.”
2. Men – I.T.
If you’ve got a crush on the I.T. guy at work, stay away as men in I.T accounted for 12% of male cheaters.
2. Women – Education
Getting it on with a sexy female teacher is a fantasy for sure, but is it worth the 12% chance that she’ll cheat on you?
1. Men – Trades
Another fantasy career is men who have a trade. Those muscles come at a price, though, and they made up 29% of male respondents.
“Jobs in trades often mean irregular hours and are often structured in shift work meaning it’s easier for men to fly under the radar when it comes to sneaking around with an affair partner,” said Isabella Mise, Director of Communications at Ashley Madison.
1. Women – Medical
If your lady is in the medical profession then I’m sorry to say that she’s got a job that means she’s very likely to cheat, with 23% of female respondents working in this field.
“A combination of long hours of potential stress mixed with a natural reaction to stress just might be the reason these women in the medical profession seek out an affair,” said Mise.
While this list doesn’t make for delightful reading, please remember that it’s based on one survey – and it only focused on 1,024 cheaters – so it’s nothing more than an interesting (albeit scary) insight into how a person’s job could affect their fidelity – or lack thereof.
