Despite suffering from a early-onset, slow-acting disease known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) that has slowly robbed him of his mobility, Stephen Hawking has published theories on general relativity and quantum mechanics among others.

In addition to his academic work, Hawking also published the best-selling book A Brief History of time in 1988, and has given his opinion on many political and scientific events over the past few decades. Now, as concerns grow over climate change, overpopulation, and the general health of planet Earth, Stephen Hawking has urged humanity to find a new terrestrial plane on which to settle, even going as far as giving us an idea of the time we have left before it’s too late.
