17 Apr Starbucks Employee Denies Black Man The Bathroom Code, But Then Gives It To A White Guy
If anyone is still ignorant or in denial about the everyday racism that black people have to face, then you’ve got to see the video below. Moments after a Starbucks employee denied a black man the store’s bathroom code, he recorded the moment he confronted her about freely giving it to a white man who hadn’t even made a purchase yet.
The black man, named Brandon Ward, recorded the indecent on his phone and activist Shaun King tweeted Ward’s video. It has since gone viral. In the footage, Ward politely asks the Starbucks employee why he was denied the bathroom code and the white man was not.
Check out the video below, and see if you believe it is racist:

The woman behind the counter, who identified herself as the manager of the Starbucks, told Ward he was not allowed to film inside the coffee shop, but Ward had already made his point. He was told he had to leave, even though he wasn’t causing any danger and only wanted to use the toilets.
The internet is now going crazy, calling out both Starbucks and the manager, but one commenter was quick to point out that this kind of racism happens every day all across the country.
He wrote, “This is what African-Americans have to deal with on a daily basis racism across this country is deep and sometimes we feel like we’re still in the 1950s and 60s in this country.”
Another was quick to point out how two black men were arrested in a Starbucks in Philidelphia for not ordering anything while they waited for a friend. The racism situation is dire in America and needs to change.
Perhaps the change can start with Starbucks. Your move.
