Recently, doctors managed to transplant a new ear onto a soldier after leaving it to grow in her arm.

Her name is Private Shamika Burrage, she’s 21 years old, and she lost her ear after sustaining head injuries in a car crash in 2016.

In the car with her, was Burrage’s pregnant sister. “We were driving and my front tire blew, which sent the car off road and I hit the brake,” she recalled. “I remember looking at my cousin who was in the passenger seat, I looked back at the road as I hit the brakes. “I just remember the first flip and that was it.”

According to medics, the young soldier could have bled to death within half an hour if she hadn’t received any medical attention. She also suffered injuries to the head and compression fractures.
