06 Feb Sick Five-Year-Old Girl ‘Marries’ Her Boyfriend Before Third Open-Heart Surgery
Your childhood is supposed to be one of the most carefree times in your life, but that’s sadly not the case for children with serious illnesses. While their peers grapple with trivial concerns like getting the latest pair of sneakers, they have to fight for their lives.
That’s why it’s so important for sick children to be given the chance to make as many memories as possible when they are able to.
Five-year-old Sophia Chiappalone has not had the easiest start in life. She was born with a serious heart defect and, at the age of just five years old, was preparing for her third open-heart surgery in November 2017.
Knowing how dangerous it was, she had a request for her mom before the operation… She wanted to get ‘married’ to her boyfriend, six-year-old Hunter Laferriere.
Not wanting to let her daughter go under the knife without granting her wish, Sophia’s mom, Kristy Somerset-Chiappalone, got in touch with Hunter’s mom, Tracy, and together they arranged the most stunning autumnal wedding for Sophia.
Check out the video below to learn more about this truly special event:
It was made possible thanks to Marisa Balletti-Lavoie, who runs Sassy Mouth Photography, and arranged the photo shoot for the children.
