Lizzie Mcguire was all of us growing up. As a shy and often clumsy teen, I could always sympathise with Hilary Duff’s character as she navigated the trials and tribulations of high school, attempting to deal with boys, mean girls and irritating siblings. Not to mention everyone going through adolescence had to admit that at times they felt as though they had their own cartoon alter-ego who would appear whenever they were in a particularly embarrassing or awkward situation and rant to their imaginary audience about their inner thoughts and worries.

More than 13 years after the show finished on the Disney Channel in February 2004, I’m sure you’ve been wondering what happened to Lizzie and her loyal pals Miranda and Gordo. Not to mention frenemy Kate Sanders and dreamboat Ethan Craft. Join us as we take a look at how much the cast has changed since their days at Hillridge Junior High School.

1. Hilary Duff as Elizabeth “Lizzie” McGuire

After the show ended Hilary Duff made some absolute classic songs – don’t lie, we all loved Come Clean – had a baby, and is currently starring on the show Younger. Good going Lizzie!

2. Lalaine as Miranda Sanchez

Lalaine dabbled in the music industry after Lizzie McGuire and then continued acting with roles in Easy A and Off the Clock.

3. Adam Lamberg as David “Gordo” Gordon

Unlike his castmates, Adam disappeared from the acting world after the show and focused on his education, eventually gaining a degree in geography.

4. Jake Thomas as Matthew “Matt” McGuire

Lizzie’s annoying little brother has had quite the acting career since the show came to an end; he appeared on popular crime shows NCIS and CSI and had a major role in the series Storytellers.

5. Hallie Todd as Joanne “Jo” McGuire

Hallie has branched out into writing, producing, and teaching since finishing her role as Lizzie’s mum.
