They say that revenge is a dish best served cold. But for Betsy Ayala, that dish was piping hot (and sensibly portioned) after she got the ultimate revenge on her cheating husband.

As with all stories of this nature, Betsy’s tale has a turbulent start.

Having just given birth to her first child, the Texas-based mom was feeling rather insecure about her weight. This sense of vulnerability was only intensified two days after Christmas when she stumbled upon a stream of sick-inducing Facebook messages that her husband had sent a female co-worker. In the cruel comments, her husband viciously called her a “fat f***” and a “cow”.

“I had been with him since I was 17 and pretty much devoted my life to our relationship and him. I was devastated. I found out through some messages I read on his Facebook where they were calling me a cow and fat and just trashing me and my whole world fell apart,” the 34-year-old mom explains.

But just like all fairytales, the roughest start often produces the most miraculous happily ever after. Determined not to allow her now ex-husband to ruin her life, Betsy dramatically changed her lifestyle.

Of course, her transformation wasn’t an instantaneous success. Initially, Betsy struggled to find the motivation. “I didn’t know what to do with myself at the time. I was still over 220 pounds with a 6-month-old and everything that I had worked for had just vanished,” she said.
