25 Jan Scientists Issue Warning About ‘Zombie Deer Disease’ That Could Spread To Humans
Most people have considered what they would do in a zombie apocalypse – where they’d hide, what weapon they’d use, etc. It’s a situation that’s straight out of a horror movie where you’re forced to watch your family and friends get picked off one by one by the living dead.
Now, this seemingly fictional event could become a reality. So you might want to think of a zombie escape plan if you don’t already have one.
The concept of the living dead has fascinated us for decades and science has proven that it is possible. What’s more is that experts have estimated that in the event of a zombie apocalypse, humankind would be outnumbered a million to one within just 100 days.
To put that in context, that means that there would be just 7,600 people left in the entire world after the first three months.
While most of us live in the hope that this will never happen, experts have recently issued a warning about a “zombie deer disease” which could one day spread to humans. Otherwise known as chronic wasting disease (CWD), it is spreading rapidly in the US and Canada.
So what exactly is CWD? Well, it’s an infection that attacks the spinal cord and other tissues that results in dramatic weight loss, lack of coordination, and, in some cases, aggression, before the infected animals eventually die.
In January of 2018, cases of this terrifying disease have bee reported in 22 states and two Canadian provinces.
The video below details everything that you need to know about CWD:
Thankfully, the disease is not currently known to be transmissible to humans, however, scientists have discovered that one day it could be.
