20 Mar Rose McGowan Has Sent Harvey Weinstein An Alarming Video Message For His Birthday
Back in October 2017, Rose McGowan revolutionized Hollywood when she spoke out against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
As you probably already know, The New York Times revealed how McGowan was one of eight women who were victims of sexual abuse at the hands of Weinstein, and that she was silenced with a $100,000 settlement. The encounter happened back in 1997 at the Sundance Film Festival. McGowan claims Weinstein led her into a hotel room, where he would rape her.
Following these revelations, another 83 women spoke out against Weinstein, claiming that he had also abused them.
The downfall of Weinstein led to many women and men, working in all industries, speaking out with their own stories about sexual abuse. Due to the accompanying hashtag, their honesty and bravery helped forge what has become known as the #MeToo movement.
However, new concerns have risen for the actress, 44, after she posted the following video on Twitter, where she berates Harvey Weinstein in a creepy birthday message:

In recent months, whilst Weinstein has successfully managed to keep out of the public eye in fear of persecution, McGowan has been portrayed in the media in a negative light.
First, in February McGowan was recorded at one of her book launches getting into a heated exchange with a trans-woman, after McGowan was called out for her “derogatory” comments regarding trans women. Speaking on RuPaul’s podcast What’s The Tee, McGowan said of trans women:
“They assume because they felt like a woman on the inside. That’s not developing as a woman. That’s not growing as a woman, that’s not living in this world as a woman, and a lot of the stuff I hear trans complaining about, yeah, welcome to the world.”
This comment led to critics on social media calling her a trans-exclusionary radical feminist, or TERF.

Then earlier this month, it was revealed that Judge Deborah Welsh of Loudoun County General District Court has refused to dismiss McGowan’s drug possession charge from November of last year.
It goes without saying that McGowan’s bravery and contribution to the #MeToo movement is something that so many people are thankful for, and she has become a pivotal part in the changes we are seeing around the world. But this most recent video is nothing short of alarming and upsetting, and we hope she is surrounded by a positive support network to help her through this difficult time.
