“Real-Life Popeye” Has Now Had Implants Inserted Into His Legs And It Looks Ridiculous

How far would you be willing to go to get the body of your dreams? Would invest in a personal trainer, perhaps? Or maybe just an extra day a week at the gym? What about some Popeye implants? Wait, what?! Yes, it turns out that in today’s plastic fantastic world, Popeye implants are indeed a thing, and a Russian bodybuilder by the name of Kirill Tereshin has come under fire for his decision to mutilate his body in this way.

While plastic surgery certainly has a place in society, as is the case with just about everything, there is a line, and when you’re putting your health at risk in pursuit of the physique of your dreams, you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. What’s more is that certain procedures do not have the approval of the medical community and for good reason, and to get his Popeye arms, Tereshin injected them with synthetic chemicals.

The muscle expanding solution (or spinach replacement concoction, if you will) was made up of a cocktail of lidocaine, alcohol, and olive oil – yes, that’s not a joke; olive oil. Talk about taking your love of Italian food a step too far. It came with the delightful risks of nerve damage, embolisms, and strokes.

Doctors are understandably very concerned about Tereshin’s physical health and now they’ve warned him that his arms are at risk of exploding.

Clearly, the 21-year-old is suffering from some form of body dysmorphia (a mental health condition that characterizes itself by the obsessive idea that some aspect of one’s own body is severely flawed and warrants exceptional measures to “fix” it), to put himself at risk of this.

In an attempt to stop Tereshin from further mutilating his arms, doctors made him an offer he couldn’t refuse: they would insert silicone implants into his legs to give him the muscular shape of his dreams there too, providing that he agreed to stop making his arms bigger.

While this bribery certainly doesn’t make logical sense, unable to resist the temptation of altering himself elsewhere, Tereshin agreed.

Although to be honest, judging by how uncomfortable his Popeye arms look, he looks far too obsessed to stick to his word about anything.

Kirill, who is from Pyatigorsk in southwestern Russia, said that he decided to get the surgery to his calves would look like “rockets”. Maybe he’s a huge Toy Story fan and also wants to be compared to Buzz Lightyear? You never know. Regardless, it was a terrible idea.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering why the hell Kirill didn’t do what most people in pursuit of muscles do (that alien notion of hitting the gym), he decided that he wanted to get plastic surgery instead because it was an easier way of getting the physique of his dreams.

Well, they do say that nothing worth having in life comes easy, and what he ended up with is definitely a reflection of this.

The 21-year-old took to social media to share pictures of his rocket calves, writing, “I will make my calves look like my arms. My nuclear weapon will be the most powerful and big.”

And there was me thinking that Kim Jong-un had issues. Hey, maybe President Trump should have a word with Kirill?! It’s worth a shot…

Speaking about the damage Kirill has already done to his body, Professor Evgene Lilin told the Daily Mail: “He very likely faces amputation in the future. One day abscesses will develop, then inflammation and he (will be at risk of) a stroke.”

“The bad thing is that already-injected synthol or its equivalent will remain in his muscles for the next five to seven years, even if he stops adding more now.”

Oh, and he’s also at risk of paralysis and said that he’s got no plans to stop injecting his arms with olive oil despite promising doctors he would.

We can only live in the hope that Kirill gets the psychological and medical treatment he needs before it’s too late.
