18 Jun Proud Dad Goes To Extreme Measures After School Refuses To Recognize His Son As Valedictorian
After years of hard work and dedication, one high school senior – who graduated top of his class by the way – sadly was not given the recognition he deserved.
After new rules were implemented at the last minute which resulted in Joshua Allman missing out on being named valedictorian of his class, despite having worked so hard to achieve this honor.
Joshua’s school district decided in May to replace the current valedictorian system with a Latin honors ranking, claiming, according to News & Observer, that it is a “better way to recognize students who may have barely missed being named valedictorian or salutatorian by several decimal places.”
Joshua’s school decided to implement the new guidelines immediately, and despite working towards achieving the top honor within the valedictorian system, he was unable to receive the title at the last minute.
But that didn’t deter Joshua’s proud father, Garry, from recognizing his son’s remarkable achievement.
Garry, who purchased an entire billboard on Highway 264 in Wake County, North Carolina to celebrate his son’s accomplishment.
Garry posted a picture of the billboard to Facebook, which reads “Joshua Allmon will always be our Valedictorian.”
He captioned his post, “East Wake High School and Wake County Public School Board may not recognize Josh’s hard work but we will.”
