Prada Is Selling a Paper Clip for $185 and People Are Less Than Impressed

Do you ever worry that your office supplies are too drab? Do you feel looked down upon by your coworkers, who take one look at your drawers full of staples, rubber bands, and erasers and think, ‘how can one person have so little flare?’ If you’re feeling insecure about the serious lack of luxury your mundane office supplies bring to the table, then you’re in luck.

In yet another ridiculous move made the by the high-end fashion industry, Prada has released its newest creation: a paperclip. Well, they’re technically calling it a “paper clip-shaped money clip”, but the size, shape, and look of the product all suggests that it’s no different than your run-of-the-mill paper clip. The most important difference between the “luxe” paper clip and the typical one lies in the price: while the average paper clip costs less than a full cent, Prada’s paper clip retails for a whopping $185.

Measuring at 6.25 centimeters long and 2.25 centimeters wide, this fabulous paper clip can be found at Barney’s New York. It is cast in sterling silver and even made in Italy, so you know you’re getting the best bang for your buck, right? Obviously the most impressive quality that this little guy holds is the engraved Prada logo shown on one side, which one can only assume accounts for $180 of the clip’s $185 value.
