19 Jan Pope Francis Rushes To The Aid Of Female Officer After Popemobile Spooks Her Horse
The Pope is one of the most influential people in the world. As head of the Catholic Church, millions of Christians look to him for hope and guidance. In addition to promoting the Catholic faith, the Pope’s job involves charitable work and defending human rights.
So when the Popemobile accidentally spooked a horse into throwing a police officer to the ground, he was the first to rush to her side.
Pope Francis, who was elected in 2013, was in Chile when the incident took place. He had just conducted a Mass in Iquique and was greeting crowds who had gathered to see him. Because of his position and the size of the crowds, a lot of security personnel were present.
Unfortunately, certain situations can spook horses, causing them to throw their riders abruptly off their backs.
This is what happened when the Popemobile got a little too close to a police horse and the animal suddenly reared up. The driver of the Popemobile then swerved out of the way in response, as the officer was thrown to the ground.
Instead of continuing to greet the crowds, Pope Francis immediately stopped his motorcade to help the woman. He did so while flanked by security guards because attempts on the Pope’s life have been made before.
