Using your phone while driving is incredibly dangerous, and is unfortunately fairly prolific on the road. If you haven’t done it yourself, it is likely you have at least been in the same vehicle as someone who has, an act which puts everyone in the car at risk.

You don’t even have to be in the same car as the phone user to be affected by this. Someone texting or otherwise while using their car can still have catastrophic consequences for others on the road. However safe a driver you are, there is not much you can do about a stranger driving dangerously.

As the development of smartphones is a fairly recent phenomenon, we are still coming to grips with how they should be used both legally and socially. But the law is becoming more strict in how it punishes those who are distracted by technology as they drive. Surrey Police have used a new tactic to raise awareness of the dangers of making this mistake.
