09 Jan Photographer Goes On Two-Year Mission To Save The World’s Most Endangered Species
The Earth is an incredible place. It’s the only planet orbiting our sun that contains just the right conditions for life. Our pale blue dot is home to countless amazing species of plants and animals, and, unfortunately, many of them are on the brink of extinction.
To draw much-needed attention to this problem, photographer Tim Flach went on a two-year around the world trip to photograph the animals that are in danger of being wiped out. Instead of saving them with an ark like Noah, he hopes to do it with a camera.
Here are 16 spectacular animals that are in desperate need of our help…
1. Saiga Antelope
Status: Critically endangered
Habitat: Kazakhstan and Russia
2. Philippine Eagle
Status: Critically endangered
Habitat: The islands of Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao in the Philippines
3. Yunnan Snub-Nosed Monkey
Status: Endangered
Habitat: Southwestern China
4. Snow Leopard
Status: Vulnerable
Habitat: Eastern Himalayas, Yangtze
Flach was inspired to photograph endangered animals because his work has been centered around animals for many years. Photography has taken him around the globe and shown him that some of the Earth’s most incredible creatures are in serious trouble.
He is featured below being interviewed about his work:
