13 Mar Peculiar Personality Traits You Can Expect To Find In Left-Handed People
As a right-handed person, I have always been afforded the luxury of never having my capabilities questioned. I have watched as left-handed classmates have been chastised for the way in which they hold their pen, the egg and spoon on sports day, a tennis racket, a paintbrush…the list is endless, for left-handed people do things very differently.
Of course, in this modern world people are starting to come round to the idea that being different is good. In fact, so good it should be celebrated. Thus, being left-handed is barely noticeable these days, despite the fact that 70-95% of the world’s population possess a dominant right hand.
This hasn’t always been the case, over the years people who rely on their left-hand have been subjected to a great deal of discrimination. For example, during the industrial revolution, all factory equipment was made to be handled by those who predominantly use their right hand. In fact, even the word “right” is synonymous with power and correctness, whilst the word “left” is often connotated with words such as awkward and clumsy.
You probably didn’t know that these celebrities all rely on their left hand…

But rather than let this hold them back, left-handed people have been making working twice as hard to make it in this world. From Barrack Obama to Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey to Leanardo Da Vinci, Marie Curie to Jimi Hendrix, left-handers are a force to be reckoned with! Don’t believe me? Here are five reasons you should never underestimate someone who relies on their left hand…
1. They are really creative
Those who depend on their left hand have been observed to have better divergent thinking skills, which essentially means that they’re better at thinking outside of the box and coming up with creative solutions.
With creatives such as James Cameron, the film director behind blockbuster hits such as Avatar, Titanic and The Terminator, musicians such as David Bowie, Eminem, Sir Paul McCartney, and actors such as Tom Cruise, Pierce Brosnan, Jim Carrey, Marilyn Monroe and Brad Pitt all preferring to use their left hand, it’s clear to see that creative does seem to flow through the left arm!
