But, imagine being told you’ll never be able to walk again by a team of medical professionals. Imagine taking a fall down a flight of stairs and desperately hoping for a full recovery only to have your hopes dashed by disappointing news from doctors. Well, when one woman, by the name of Riona Kelly, was told that she was permanently paralyzed from the waist down, she refused to listen to the diagnosis. And then the 37-year-old mom-of-four from Halifax, West Yorkshire ended up doing something remarkable…

In March 2015, Kelly fell down a flight of stairs and suffered a spinal stroke, which led to her being paralysed from the waist down.

Her husband of 14 years allegedly left her a mere five days after the ordeal, although he maintains that he told her he wanted a divorce the day before the stroke.

Luckily, Kelly was able to find love and support in her new man, Keith Mason a 35-year-old personal trainer and former rugby player. With Mason, being the supremely skilled personal trainer that he is, he helped Kelly achieve some incredible results…

Kelly was devastated when, six weeks after the accident, she was still unable to move her legs despite being originally told she would be able to do just that. The doctors then concluded that it was unlikely that she’d ever be able to move her legs again.

In January 2016, soon after she had her stroke she started training with the man who would go on to become her partner.
