01 Sep Over 30 Years Later, Here’s What The Cast Of ‘The Goonies’ Look Like Now

The ’80s were a fantastic decade for cinema, but few of its movies have endured in their popularity as much as The Goonies. Released in 1985 and written by Hollywood royalty Steven Spielberg, it thrust a handful of child stars into the limelight as they went on an epic quest to find “One-Eyed” Willy’s fortune.

Whilst it’s no secret that Josh Brolin became a superstar after playing Brand, the fate of The Goonies other stars aren’t widely known. What’s Chunk AKA Jeff Cohen up to now? And did any of the movie’s stars fall prey to the notorious curse of the child star? Well, you’re about to find out…

1. Sean Astin, Mikey

I’m sure you’ll be glad to hear that Sean Astin went on to have a fantastic career as an actor. After The Goonies, he starred in Like Father Like Son (1987), Toy Soldiers (1991), and Rudy (1993). His most recent role was in the vampire series series The Strain, but aside from The Goonies my favorite role of his was Samwise Gamgee in Lord of the Rings.

2. Jeff Cohen, Chunk

Sadly, Jeff Cohen did not continue acting for long after The Goonies, and his last known role was in the 1991 TV movie Perfect Harmony. Since then he’s gone on to have a successful career as an attorney, and his first book The Dealmaker’s Ten Commandments was published in 2015.

3. Corey Feldman, Mouth

Corey Feldman went on to star in a number of hit movies in the wake of The Goonies including Stand by Me (1986) and The Lost Boys (1987). He’s a singer too, and his first album Former Child Actor was released in 2002. His autobiography Coreyography was also released in 2013, detailing his early life in the spotlight.

A little-known fact about The Goonies is that it’s set in the same world as another ’80s classic – The Gremlins (1984). You might have noticed this when Chuck phones the cops to tell them that he’s in trouble, and they dismiss his claims as being as fictitious as “little creatures that multiply when you pour water on them”!
