02 Oct O.J. Simpson Has Spoken For The First Time After Leaving Prison After Serving 9-Years
O.J Simpson is undoubtably one of America’s most notorious sports stars, but his extreme fame was garnered for all the wrong reasons. The now 70-year-old NFL hero has lived a large portion of his life behind bars, after two high-profile criminal trials, which saw ‘The Juice’ being declared bankrupt.
His sensational story first turned sinister in 1994, when the Hall of Fame star was accused of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman. In what became known as “the trial of the century”, Simpson was acquitted of the murders in front of a television audience of an estimated 100 million people.
Over the next 12 years, Simpson was embroiled in a number of other legal troubles. But, these were eclipsed in 2007, when the sports star, turned actor, was arrested for armed robbery in Las Vegas.
During the robbery, a group of men, led by Simpson stole sports memorabilia at gunpoint. Instantly, a media circus engulfed the case, reporting its every detail. Despite Simpson’s lawyers best efforts, the disgraced star was sentenced to 33 years in prison at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada.
However, on October 1, Simpson was released after serving just nine years of his sentence. Naturally, the release of the sporting legend, sparked intense media interest. So much so, that the Nevada Department of Corrections had to carefully plan his release.
Simpson left Lovelock at 12:08.a.m. on Sunday, after a decoy van had already gone ahead to entice reporters and paparazzi away from the prison, before the release of the real O.J. Despite the careful planning, several reporters were present at the moment of ‘The Juice’s’ release and were able to capture the moment…
They were able to talk to the convicted criminal, before he was taken away into the Las Vegas night. What he had to say will surprise you…
