21 Dec North Korean Soldier Runs For His Life As He Defects Across The Border To The South
It’s no secret that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un rules over his regime with an iron fist.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Jong-un had two of his nuclear officials executed following a delay in a nuclear missile test launch. Combine this relentless tyranny with his incessant baiting for a war against the Western world, and you can imagine that North Korea is a pretty terrifying place to live.
As a result, it’s no surprise that many of those under Jong-un’s leadership want nothing more than to defect and flee the country.
This month alone, two “low-ranking” soldiers have managed to successfully get across the heavily militarised border between the North and the South – with the most recent being successful at approximately 8:04 am local time on Thursday, 21 December.
Following his escape, South Korean officials revealed that North Korean soldiers approached the border in order to look for the defector. However, as a response, the South Korean military fired around 20 shots towards their neighbors.
The heart-stopping surveillance footage below shows the first defector driving at speed in a military vehicle, aiming straight for the South Korean border. After being spotted by military personnel, they open fire on the terrified man, as he runs for his life.
The following video details the trail of the brave man’s escape:
This escape was recorded on November 13, when a young soldier named Oh Chong Song fled the regime. He was shot four times during his escape and received extensive medical treatment from South Korea in order to save his life.
Chong Song was also found with huge 10-inch parasites in his body, believed to be the result of malnutrition.
North Korea fired the border staff that allowed him to escape, as South Korean and US soldiers were been awarded medals for their role in his rescue.
