Nobody Should Forget The Incredible Story Of How Steve Buscemi Helped Victims Of The 9/11 Attacks

Today marks the 16th anniversary of one of the most devastating and unprecedented terror attacks in history. The US had never seen a terrorist attack of this size, and also one which sent people into panic on such an international scale.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed when four planes, which had been hijacked by terrorists, crashed into the twin towers in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon (the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense) and a field in Pennsylvania.

Today, thousands of New Yorkers will be meeting outside the World Trade Center today to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in the deadly attack, as people around the world reflect back on perhaps the most haunting day in living memory.

Later today, US President Donald Trump, who is originally from New York, is expected to initiate a moment of silence with his wife, Melania Trump by his side. It is also expected that the president will pay his respects to the victims at the Pentagon.

There’s so much that has already been said about that fateful day. It feels as if very harrowing story, phone call and rescue mission has been detailed over the past 16 years, as we’ve all come to recognize and champions the heroes of 9/11.

And while many celebrities have publicly expressed their condolences for the victims’ families, one celebrity made a concerted effort to help those directly affected by the terror attack back in 2001. Steve Buscemi was determined to help in the effort to find survivors of the attacks, so he returned to his old job as a firefighter to do just that.
