11 Dec New Study Reveals That Women Are Happier With Less Attractive Partners
Well, guys, it looks like you may be off the hook for not putting too much effort into your beauty regime. According to a recent study at Florida State University, women are actually happier with less attractive boyfriends.
Yes, you read that right. It turns out that Princess Fiona was right to choose Shrek over Prince Charming.
The study involved 113 newlywed couples in their twenties. They were rated on their looks and asked to fill out a survey. Findings suggested that among heterosexual couples, relationships were more successful if the woman was the more attractive partner.
Of course, this begs the question, what defines success? It turns out that, for this study, it had little to do with longevity, respect, or life goals. Rather, the survey focused on the desire to remain fit and sexy.
Considering all of the survey participants were young and married less than four months, it was perhaps difficult to gauge success in any other way, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, the rationale for the results is pretty shallow.
“The husbands seemed to be basically more committed, more invested in pleasing their wives when they felt that they were getting a pretty good deal,” researchers claim.
Male partners admitted to doing more housework and being more attentive to their partners when they felt their wives were more attractive. So essentially, men only think they are getting a “good deal” and want to take care of basic responsibilities when they’ve got a hot wife.
