Breastfeeding is a contentious issue in modern society. The over-sexualization of women’s bodies has resulted in many moms being shamed for this perfectly natural activity. However, the moms who are subject the most shaming are those who refuse to stop breastfeeding.

It has been scientifically proven that children who are breastfed for longer are considerably healthier than those who are not. Babies who are breastfed exclusively for the first six months of their lives are less likely to suffer from ailments like respiratory illnesses.

While most moms stop breastfeeding their babies once they are toddlers, a small number continue to do so into their kid’s preschool years and, in exceptional cases, their teenage years. One of these moms is 29-year-old English blogger, Sophie Mei Lan.

She has two preschool-aged children, Jasmine and Arianna, and despite her husband telling her to stop breastfeeding them, she absolutely refuses to, claiming that it has not only brought them closer together but saved her thousands of dollars in the process.

Sophie is convinced that her decision to continue breastfeeding her daughters helps them to sleep better. In fact, she goes to bed with them every night as she believes that her milk has a soothing effect on them and they often fall asleep while feeding.

But now that Sophie’s children are getting older, she’s also worried about the effects her decision could have on them. Five-year-old Jasmine is about to start school, and she is concerned that still being breastfed could potentially isolate her from the other children.
