22 Feb Mom Furious To Discover Her Black Son Was Put On The “Front Line” For School’s Shooting Drill

Last week, yet another school shooting occurred, this time at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. It was one of the deadliest school shootings in US history. Seventeen people very tragically lost their lives and fourteen people were taken to hospital fighting for their lives.

Shortly after the crime, Nikolas Jacob Cruz was arrested as a suspect and it wasn’t long before he confessed.

In the wake of this horrific massacre, parents all over the country were burdened with yet more fears for their children’s safety at school. They were forced to have difficult conversations with their kids about how best to prepare for a tragic event of this nature.

One of these parents is Tanai Bernard who felt obliged, as a parent, to ask her 10-year-old son, Dezmond, about the safety drills at his school. Bernard is a teacher herself, so she knows firsthand the kind of measures being put into place at schools to prepare students for the event of a shooting.

The single mom was trying to figure out whether her son was taking the safety drills seriously or whether he was just using them “as a time to socialize and goof off.”
