31 Jul Mini Mayweather Versus Mini McGregor Is Set To Be Better Than The Real Thing
It was a dramatic story with labyrinthine qualities, a will-they-won’t-they tale that served up surprises right up until the fight’s eventual announcement.
Perhaps it was unsurprising that the lead up to Conor McGregor’s gargantuan bout against undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was masterminded to such a meticulous degree. Despite an astonishing career in which Floyd has never lost a professional fight, he has become almost as well known for his business acumen as his boxing pedigree. It is not a coincidence that his nickname is “Money”; Mayweather’s fights are consistently among the most lucrative in pay-per-view history, and the 40-year-old has accrued astonishing wealth over the course of his career.
Cynics are greeting the McGregor/Mayweather bout with a derisive snort and an upturned nose – inevitable when one considers just how comprehensively the odds are stacked in the latter’s favour. The fight is seen by many as a cynical money-making scheme on the part of both fighters and, in reality, neither has very little to lose as a result of the exhibition-esque event.
With that being said, the fight is sure to be some spectacle. Whether it will be eclipsed by another fight, happening the evening before, remains open to question, though, after it was reported that a “mini-Mayweather” versus “mini-McGregor face off” will take place on the eve of the much hyped main event.
