Miley Cyrus And Adam Sandler Perform Together To Honor Those Affected By The Las Vegas Shooting

The shooting in Las Vegas has been declared the worst mass-shooting in US history. At least 59 people have lost their lives and over 500 have been injured after a lone gunman opened fire on a 22,000-strong crowd at a country music festival from the 32nd floor of a hotel.

News of the shooting sent shockwaves around the world, and it got people talking about gun control laws in the US. Many are now hoping that tighter regulations are introduced to prevent tragedies like this from happening again in the future.

The attacker was soon identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock – a Las Vegas native with no previous criminal record or association with extremist groups. Investigators are struggling to work out what his motive could have been.

“[He has] no religious affiliation, no political affiliation, he just hung out,” Paddock’s bother Eric said. “He’s just a guy who lived in a house in Mesquite, drove down and gambled in Las Vegas.”

To show respect for those affected by the attack, many popular US television shows opened on a sombre note yesterday. This included The Tonight Show where Miley Cyrus had been due to start a week-long stint promoting her new album Younger Now.

“In the face of tragedies and acts of terror, we need to remember that good still exists in this world,” host Jimmy Kimmel said as the show started. The camera then cut to a performance of Dido’s ‘No Freedom’ by Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler.
