04 May Mexican Sports Reporter Hits Fan With A Microphone After He Groped Her On Live TV

Sexual harassment is an unfortunate reality for the majority of women. Most can attest to being treated inappropriately in one way or another, something which was explicitly brought to the world’s attention thanks to the #MeToo movement.

While attitudes towards this unacceptable behavior are slowly, but surely, changing, that hasn’t stopped some people from blatantly harassing others. Case in point, this Mexican sports reporter who was groped by a fan on live TV.

But she wasn’t willing to stand there and take it. Check out the video below to see how she retaliated:

In the footage, Maria Fernanda Mora talks with sports fans outside the Guadalajara stadium after the local team beat Toronto. While most were ecstatic because of the win, one used the interview as an opportunity to grope her behind.

Even though Mora was doing her job at the time, she was not prepared to simply let him get away with it.

So she turned around and hit the portly fan repeatedly with her microphone – an action which he clearly wasn’t expecting.

Recalling the incident, the sports presenter said, “What happened to me at dawn on Thursday, happens to thousands of women every day in public spaces. The difference is that it happened to me during a live link on television and I decided to defend myself. My reaction is what turned the fact into something viral.”

“I thought, It could be an accidental rubbing because of people’s pushing and I kept talking to the camera. This guy, emboldened because I did not react and kept doing my job, put his hand between my buttocks twice more. I decided to defend myself.”

Sadly, Mora has been criticised for her response, with some Twitter users claiming that she did it for five minutes of fame.

She’s now hit back on the micro-blogging website, writing, “I don’t regret my reaction at all.”

We would like to take this opportunity to commend Mora. The #MeToo movement has shown that women (and men) are not willing to accept sexual harassment anymore, and anyone does it deserves the wrath their actions inspire.
